Summit Assemblies

Today we were fortunate to have Reggie Shaw and Zero Fatalities present at our schools in Summit County. The assembly went great! Reggie is really a neat person who just made a really poor decision, but he is sure making the best of it and helping others along the way. I was really impressed with the students....it was dead silent when Reggie spoke. He did ask the students to raise their hands if they have a license...if they use the phone while driving, and also if they text....many hands were raised. I really enjoy working in the schools/community and just hope we can make a difference.

Zero Fatalities Conference

Last week I started my new job with the Summit County Health Department. I am really loving my job. I will be working mostly in North Summit Area (Coalville) which is fairly close to Morgan. Our offices are in Park City and we will be switching buildings next month and be next to the Park City Hospital. The drive is beautiful. We did have a little snow the other day, but it wasn't bad at all. My neighbor works across the street so we have been riding together which makes it nice.
We attended the Zero Fatalities conference last week. Reggie Shaw came and shared his story of texting and driving and how it has changed his life. He was charged, after killing 2 people in a horrible crash. Not a dry eye in the audience. I was so glad he came...it really makes you think twice and helps you to become a better driver. If you haven't seen the 15 minutes video yet, check it out www.zerofatalities.com

Time Out for Women

My mom and I attended the Time Out for Women in Logan this weekend. This is the 2nd time I have attended, and I sure look forward to more. The theme this year is Sweet Assurance- the certainty that comes when you know life's truths. The day was full of laughs and also tears. We listened to great speakers such as: Emily Watts, Mary Ellen Edmunds, Jill Manning, Brent Top, and music from Cherie Call. It was a great reminder that Heavenly Father loves each of us and has a plan for us....and we just need to have more patience and things will work out. I really enjoyed the whole day and was grateful to spend some time with my mom.

The funnest part of the day was the ride with Grandpa. We went crusing up the dirt roads in Weston. Grandpa let em go....what a ride! Nothing better then a cruising in the buggy. Thanks Grandpa! We had a fun day. Afterwards we went to the park of a hamburger and went back to relax and have fun spending time together. Thanks for a great 24th!

Good news!

Jeremy and I headed to Salt Lake on Tuesday for a Dr. appointment. After reviewing all the tests, the Dr. said that pulmonary artery that feeds the right lung is narrowed quite a bit, but that enough blood is able to feed the lung. She didn't think it was an aneurysm, it's just the shape it has. She said until I have symptoms that I won't need surgery or anything. She was planning on having someone else look at the tests and make sure. She ordered a chest x-ray and said she would call me in a couple days. I didn't hear from her today so hopefully tomorrow. But, we sure feel better! Thanks for all your words of encouragement. We are so grateful!
Jeremy headed up to Scout Camp today. He is just getting in on the tail end of camp. He was all ready to fix some banana boats for them. I am sure they'll have a great time.

Doctor's Call

These past few weeks have been a crazy one for sure. Last week, I spent quite a bit of time at MacKay Dee getting some medical tests completed that my cardiologist had recommended. I had a TEE on Monday, then they called and said to come in for an MRI/ MRA on Thursday.
On Monday...I received a call from his office staff saying that he needed to speak with me. Right at that moment...you aren't sure what he is going to hit you with. He explained that I have a couple problems going on such as pulmonary stenosis and also an aneurysm on my lung. He said it was unusual and that I need to be referred to some Congenital Heart Specialists. It is amazing all the thoughts that go through your mind. I have looked into it and now understand a little more. I will be fine. I am just ready to get the show on the road and get everything fixed. I have a appointment with the specialists in 2 weeks.
I am definately grateful for priesthood blessings that can bring you peace of mind when all you feel is fear. It just seems like the last few months have been really disappointing and emotional.
I just have to keep remembering that everything happens for a reason & just count the blessings that I do have. Jeremy is always a great support and very understanding, I am glad we have each other.

Happy Father's Day

For Father's Day we traveled up to Idaho to spend some time with the family and celebrate this special day. We are sure grateful for our fathers and grandpas. We have some great memories together. Brent is sure fun to be around. He always makes us laugh, either by singing a crazy song ( I won't mention which one), teasing the grandkids or howling with Jayda. Brent is sure a great guy and we sure love him. Happy Birthday!

I hope my dad had a wonderful Father's Day this year in Alaska. We weren't able to call him, but we were thinking about him. Mom & Dad have worked so hard all these years and I am so happy they were able to go on a cruise together. I am sure they are having a wonderful time! I hope next time they will invite us kids. We love you both and appreciate all you do for us. See you next week.

We are so blessed with the Grandpa's that we have. Grandpa Theo and Grandpa Benson are even best of friends. They always fill me in on stories about each other. It sure means alot to me. They both have such great personalities and everyone knows and loves them. I sure love them both so much and hope they had a wonderful Father's Day.

Bryli's Birthday

Tonight we had a great time at Bryli's birthday party. She just turned 2 years old. What a fun age! She is such a cute little girl. She was so great to share her kisses and squeezes with everyone. The only problem was that she wasn't able to go home with Papa. She was even willing to miss nursery! (which she loves) She sure loves her Grandpa. I think it is sweet! Thanks for a great party!

7th Wedding Anniversary

Jeremy & I had our 7th anniversary on June 15th, 2009. Time sure flies. I can't believe it has been 7 years. I am grateful for Jeremy! He is a great husband and friend. He is camping with the Boy Scouts tonight up at Rees Ranch in Morgan. It is beautiful up there. I hope they are having a great time!

Whitewater Rafting

This past weekend, Jeremy and I headed up to Afton, Wyoming for the horse sale. Wade & Tausha invited us up on Friday to go whitewater rafting. We rented wet suits and boots. It was a cold, rainy day, but we all had a great time together! It was fun to get together with the cousins. We went bowling that night in Afton. Ryan almost got kicked out, and the kids had a great time. Saturday, the sale went really well. It was great to see everyone.

Vacation to Bear Lake

For Jeremy's 31st birthday this year we headed up to Bear Lake with Wendy & Brad. We had a great time watching movies, playing games and hanging out at the beach. It was beautiful weather. We even played a little tennis. It was a really nice relaxing trip! It was nice to get away!

Memorial Day 2009

On Memorial Day, we were able to get everyone together for a family picture at Beus Pond near Weber State. It has been quite a few years since we had a family picture. I was nervous about the weather, but it went great and the pictures turned out wonderful. I sure appreciate my friend, Wendy, for taking the pictures. She made us all laugh....I am sure you noticed my cheesy smile. Wendy worked so hard to make Jillian smile in every picture and we couldn't all help but watch her. I am grateful we all were able to get together. I have a great family & I love them all. My brother, Micah, and his family are moving to Arizona soon. I am happy for them, but will sure miss them a lot.

Remodel

Well Jeremy and I have been working on a little remodel....that is what we thought.... little. It has turned into a bigger project. We even decided to paint again. We don't even like to paint, but I am excited!!! It will be really nice! I'll work on posting some pictures.
We have been working out at the Sportsplex trying to get in better shape. (Jeremy always reminds me that round is a shape) It has been fun. We are just both working and staying busy.

Weekend in St. George

This past weekend we went to St. George with the family. We enjoyed the warm weather, Parade of Homes, go-karting, mini-golf and just being together. We missed those who weren't able to come. This has been a tradition to go down over President's weekend each year. We always look forward to it! Thanks for a great weekend!

Last Weekend Jan 17-19

Jeremy went archery shooting with Brad & Zach in Tooele. They had a great time. Getting better all the time.
I went to Loree's birthday party in Salt Lake. We had a great time! I hope she had a wonderful birthday! We went bowling and I was pretty excited that I rolled a double strike. Ashley reminded me that I better take a picture because no one would believe it. We went out for lunch and enjoyed some birthday cake. Thanks for the great time!
Sunday, I taught my first lesson in Gospel Doctrine. I was really nervous to teach again. I have become quite rusty since I have been home from the mission. It will be a good learning experience for me. I am glad it is D&C this year.
Jeremy is in the Young Mens and does a great job with it. He has been busy helping the scouts sew snow shoes. We went through a package of needles, but they had a good time. That's all that matters anyway!
On Monday, we headed up to Logan. It has been awhile since we have been up. It is always good to go visit family. We stopped by Brent & Charlene's for a bit. We even played the wii, which was fun! We had a good time visiting with them.
We also had a sweet, short visit with Grandpa & Grandma Schvaneveldt.
We headed back to Logan for some Perkins family photos. Shane, Leslie,Kjia, Morgan and Rhett were all decked out in their boots for a family photo. We had fun! We did get some pretty good shots. I enjoy taking pictures and work at getting better each time. I don't mind being called Aunt Donna either...it's a compliment. I would love to become a great photographer! Hope you like them!

Grandpa Benson

I stopped in and visited with Grandpa Benson today. He is still recovering from breaking his hip back in November. Each day he seems to be doing better. It has been a couple of hard months for him & Grandma, but he always so positive. He is always so happy to see you and makes you feel so special. We sure love him and Grandma & hope he gets to go home real soon.
